The Iconic Red Marilyn Lip

Marilyn Monroe has long been a personal, professional and cultural inspiration for me. As a makeup artist, I've always been fascinated by her iconic lip look and the artistry behind it. For this luxury limited edition lip collection, I wanted to honour Marilyn's creativity by recreating authentic shades she wore and loved, reimagined in modern formulas.

Working with vintage lipsticks from my own collection, eminent pigment historians and extensive archival research, I carefully recreated colours inspired by Marilyn's signature lip wardrobe. Every shade has been carefully researched using authentic colour references, vintage makeup, interviews and beauty journalism from the period, while being reimagined in contemporary formulas.

Rouge Experience Refillable Lipstick in Amagansett is a luxury refillable lipstick – the formula is a dreamy, lightweight creme lipstick with a soft, subtly luminous sheen. In the summer of 1957, Marilyn rented a house in Amagansett, the Hamptons. It was a secluded and romantic windmill house that provided a safe haven for her. Amagansett Rouge Experience is inspired by a shade Marilyn wore consistently through the early and mid 1950s… a bold and pretty carnation pink. Pairs perfectly with the classic, pillarbox red of Ribbon Enhance and Define Lip Pencil, to create that beautiful, Old Hollywood red lip look.

Rouge Experience Refillable Lipstick in Norma Jeane is inspired by a lipstick shade that belonged to Marilyn, and a treasured part of my vintage makeup collection. A vibrant red-orange, Norma Jean is perfect when paired with Enhance and Define Lip Pencil in Dragon.

Velveteen Liquid Lip Colour in Strawberry Blonde is a silky smooth, super long-wearing liquid lip colour. This shade is inspired by an iconic shade that Marilyn wore and loved. Strawberry Blonde Velveteen is a true scarlet red, that can build from a soft strawberry stain to a full coverage scarlet pout.
