How do you cover a blue vein under the eye? Which concealer would work best for this? x

visceralanding - Tuesday 3rd Aug 2010 6:10pm

Lisa, I wanted to ask if you've ever tried the Estee Lauder Ideal Light Brush-on Illuminator, and if so, what did/do you think of it? I like the Double Wear concealer for blemishes, but I find that under the eyes it can make my skin look too flat and sometimes creases as well...the Ideal Light looks like it might achieve a similar effect to the Clinique airbrush you used in this vid, so I'm curious to know your thoughts on the Estee Lauder. Thanks!

Love your videos Lisa. Would you have any tips on what products are good for dealing with pitted scarring from acne and the best method in which to apply? Is it just a matter of choosing a dense concealer and stippling with a small brush as demoed? Cheers.x

ivette818 - Wednesday 30th Jun 2010 9:06am

How do you choose a concealer?

FireFly1761 - Tuesday 29th Jun 2010 3:55pm

@Mechi410, use a greenish concealer to cover redness, and set it with a powder. If your nose is quite oily, use blotting papers, and you may need to re-apply concealer.

hash2xxx - Sunday 6th Jun 2010 4:06pm

I also have a question have you ever tried YSL's Anti-Cernes Multi-Action Concealer. What do you think about this concealer , I wanna buy it and use on my blemishes and acne-scars . Do you recommend this product for that purpose ? x

IRISistibleMakeup - Tuesday 25th May 2010 10:47pm

how is it that professional makeup artists have fewer views than girls experimenting...

Mechi410 - Sunday 23rd May 2010 12:22am

I love your videos Lisa, they are so informative. I have a question, I have redness on my nose that is covered when I put on my foundation but in a couple hours the redness shows through. Should i put concealer on top of the foundation to prevent this?

lisaeldridgedotcom - Saturday 22nd May 2010 8:10pm

@holdkaeftima Its about how you use them and how much you use. I do use them on celebrities for red carpet and its ok if you dont put too much and blend well and never set them with a light reflective powder...thats asking for trouble! x

lisaeldridgedotcom - Saturday 22nd May 2010 8:09pm

@holdkaeftima mix them with something like Laura Mercier Secret Camo x

lisaeldridgedotcom - Saturday 22nd May 2010 8:07pm

@whitalisci0us yes its good to set it with sheer powder for longevity. I used the No7 concealer brush x

booplaya - Tuesday 18th May 2010 4:07pm

Ive found you though Gina. I absolutely love ur vids very informative. :)

whitalisci0us - Monday 17th May 2010 9:09pm

What concealer brush were you using for under your eyes and the large areas? Also, after concealing do you set your face w/ a powder?

elifflower - Tuesday 11th May 2010 4:05pm

@lisaeldridgedotcom Thanks Lisa, look forward to all your videos to come! x

lisaeldridgedotcom - Tuesday 11th May 2010 4:00pm

@elifflower better to apply a thin layer of colourless powder or a good eye primer

lisaeldridgedotcom - Tuesday 11th May 2010 3:54pm

@elifflower thanks! I don't do that as I find it has a way of changing/dulling down the eye shadow colour and can cause creasing. x

elifflower - Tuesday 11th May 2010 1:41pm

Hi Lisa, those 3 videos were really helpful. I am used to applying my concealer over my lids too.. is this something you don't normally do? As you didn't do this in the video. Thanks.

Nangeala - Friday 23rd Apr 2010 9:42am

If you have dry skin to combination skin can you still use Promlumiere? I have serious dry skin in certain areas, and oily in others, its really tricky to find the right foundation. I've tried Macs, so many Ive lost count, and also Nars sheerglow, which is not moisturising enough, I get little flaky patches of foundation ontop of the dry areas /sigh. Atm Im using Paul and Joes moisturising primer with their foundation liquid on top. Its better, but still not ideal imo.

starvioletx - Friday 16th Apr 2010 6:48pm

Could you please do a video of your favourite make up brushes :) x

fojfojaa - Monday 5th Apr 2010 7:44pm

@fojfojaa just watched the "bronzer" vid i soooo wasted my money on the concealer! i have an ethnic kinda color btw almost like the bronzer video model... sorry for the too much commenting ill stop right after this one XO

fojfojaa - Monday 5th Apr 2010 7:28pm

may i ask how should i choose the color? i bought a bronze one from YSL and i dnt think it suited me unless i chose to put a full bronzage make up. and i dont want to apply bronze make up every time i go out! lol

RochelleRoyalty - Tuesday 30th Mar 2010 9:48pm

Hi, is it neccessary to set powder on top without concealer? What if I don't? Also, have you tried Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer? How is it?

holdkaeftima - Tuesday 30th Mar 2010 9:29pm

Oh and btw...I don't think the concealers for the under-eye area with light-reflective pigment cover anything up on me, no matter how much I layer them on. Are they simply no good for very dark under-eye circles? They look more natural than cake concealers. I find that my dark circles are such a huge problem for me, and for a lot of women in general :(

holdkaeftima - Tuesday 30th Mar 2010 9:26pm

I really really love your videos! I do have a few questions though. Those kind of concealers with light-reflecting pigment photograph horribly - they give you the reverse panda-eye. Is there any way of avoiding this or should you just avoid them when you know you will be photographed? Plus I'd like to know how you would cover up really dark circles. Mine are very dark and blue, and people think I'm ill if they see me without makeup. How to cover them effectively but without it looking obvious?

BryherS - Monday 22nd Mar 2010 1:12pm

I have just watched this series of videos. Your advice is terrific. I am what is now called a "mature" woman with a dry skin who has always moisturized and loved wearing subtle make up. I think there is one video missing from this group which is powder. I have had terrible trouble over the years trying to find the right one. "Barbara Daly's Tesco super sheer" was super but has disappeared.

dorismars - Monday 15th Mar 2010 2:15am

I really, really love you channel: subscribe : )

lisaeldridgedotcom - Wednesday 10th Mar 2010 11:23am

@llangtree I used Neutral/fair 04. Use it just where you are dark. Thanks for watching x

lisaeldridgedotcom - Wednesday 10th Mar 2010 11:22am

@jobeanlu by not overloading with product and blending and patting in a thin layer well. Products like clinique airbrush which I use here are designed not to stick in lines as the texture is quite thin with lots of light reflection which does the job without the need for a thick layer of greasy concealer.... which ultimately creases.

lisaeldridgedotcom - Wednesday 10th Mar 2010 11:19am

@LittleMrsMiddleton yes No7

llangtree - Wednesday 10th Mar 2010 10:54am

Wonderful. Pro lumiere in 20 is my actual foundation. Have had such trouble with concealer especially a low dark circle which has appeared since I lost weight but isn't puffy. Am going to get sc3 and also the clinique airbrush. Did you use the fair or medium one please? I assume I should use the airbrush on my circles in the same way as you did just below your eye? MAny thanks!!

LittleMrsMiddleton - Sunday 7th Mar 2010 7:11am

were all the brushes that you used by Boots?

jobeanlu - Thursday 4th Mar 2010 6:01pm

how do you avoid getting your concealer from setting into the lines around your eyes after you set with loose powder?

lisaeldridgedotcom - Wednesday 3rd Mar 2010 8:45pm

@TinekeMelkebeek Its so hard to say without seeing you in person but I would apply it as a last step. Try mixing a tiny bit of your foundation with a very good coverage concealer like secret camoflauge by Laura Mercier and applying with a flat brush in light strokes. Another thing that may work for you is a light powdering with Mac mineralize skin finish powder, to set the concealer, help it stay put and give a bit more long lasting coverage. x

lisaeldridgedotcom - Wednesday 3rd Mar 2010 8:41pm

@angelAisif I also find BB creamy concealers too greasy. I much prefer using her stick foundations to conceal or Laura Mercier concealers which are much less greasy x

lisaeldridgedotcom - Wednesday 3rd Mar 2010 8:40pm

@JuicyRussian it was a Boots No7 concealer brush x

lisaeldridgedotcom - Thursday 25th Feb 2010 8:04am

I use SC3 x

mahankme - Wednesday 24th Feb 2010 9:05pm

Hey Lisa! Another great tutorial from you :) I was just wondering about the Laura Mercier Concealer because I've heard alot of good things about it from loads of other people, so I'm interested in purchasing it. However, I don't live near any retailers that sell it so I was going to get it from the John Lewis website - but not sure what shade to get. I would say my skin tone was the same as yours, quite pale - which shade did you get?? Thanks again for the vid xxx

lilacbex - Saturday 20th Feb 2010 6:21pm

Oh how I would LOVE Lisa Eldridge to do my make up every day...but her tutorials are definitely the next best thing!

JuicyRussian - Monday 15th Feb 2010 10:06pm

what brush did you use to buff in the concealer?? xx

angelAisif - Wednesday 10th Feb 2010 7:03pm

Hi Lisa! I am so excited about discovering your channel and really appreciate your professional advice. I like it especially how you deal from skincare, to the perfect base which often are neglected on channels. I have a question for you: i use the Bobbi Brown creamy concealer and although colour-wise it covers my dark circles it tends to crease during the day. however if a put powder to set my wrinkles become more obvious there. Any suggestions? I would so appreciate an answer xx

TinekeMelkebeek - Monday 8th Feb 2010 12:40pm

Hello Lisa, thank you for the brilliant tips you give ! I apply my concealer first because my cheeks are very red. But when I put foundation on afterwards, it won't blend sometimes, like the concealer gets in my pores and stuff... at first it looks fine but during the day it gets really messy. Should I look for another texture concealer? Or apply it as a last step? I want it to look natural...

lisaeldridgedotcom - Sunday 24th Jan 2010 3:14pm

@AntiCelebritynet yes I agree powder is a bit of a minefield and tricky to get right. I'd love to include this in a future tutorial. Thanks for watching and for your feedback! x

lisaeldridgedotcom - Sunday 24th Jan 2010 3:12pm

@TGRAM7 I think I need to include this in a future tutorial as its all about the technique and its hard to describe in less than 500 characters!! Hope this little snippet was helpful and thanks for your comment x

lisaeldridgedotcom - Sunday 24th Jan 2010 3:10pm

@TGRAM7 Good question. if you have blemishes on your cheeks you have two options...either apply cream to powder blusher directly over foundation and then conceal (a good tip for this is to pick up a bit of the blusher first with your concealing brush and THEN blend it with you concealer on the back of your hand) this will ensure the concealing blends with the blush. Then set well with powder. Or you can powder very well after concealing and then 'very' lightly buff powder blush over.

lisaeldridgedotcom - Sunday 24th Jan 2010 3:05pm

@themetaltree Yes! buffing in with a light touch is great. I'm a big fan of buffing for eye pencil and eyeshadow too! More of that soon! Thanks so much for your comment x

TGRAM7 - Saturday 23rd Jan 2010 3:46pm

Hi Lisa...I find that after I apply my concealer, and then apply blush, my concealer is gone. What am I doing wrong?

themetaltree - Saturday 23rd Jan 2010 11:28am

Another very useful video, thank you. x i find using a fluffy blending brush (such as a mac 224) for buffing in concealer works really well :)

AntiCelebritynet - Friday 22nd Jan 2010 3:11pm

Could you perhaps do a power tutorial please? I'm blonde with pretty fair skin, hav used translusecent powders for years and recently tried a an ivory coloured on which seemed to work better. What are your tips and tricks? Thank you again, your videos a great.

sofiangeletou - Friday 22nd Jan 2010 2:31pm

@lisaeldridgedotcom Lisa, thanks very much for the reply. really good points :) WE are grateful to you for sharing these with the world :)

lisaeldridgedotcom - Friday 22nd Jan 2010 1:49pm

@sofiangeletou concealer should always go on top of foundation otherwise you will rub some of it off when you are blending your foundation in. Have a look at your skin after applying your foundation, you mightn't need that much concealer. Pat and blend gently on top. Thanks for watching and commenting, your feedback is very gratefully received! Lisa x

sofiangeletou - Friday 22nd Jan 2010 1:08pm

thanks Lisa, these are all so helpful! is it a rule that concealer should go always on top of the foundation or it really depends on your face and the products? I feel that the concealer sticks or dries better on the skin rather than on the foundation. i am using the estee laured double wear which is liquid but on drying it covers very well. thanks so much for uploading these!!

nayver101 - Friday 22nd Jan 2010 9:12am

Thanks Lisa!
