Ask Lisa - No.1

Video - 14th Mar 2011 - Views - Comments - Watch →

Back in January I invited visitors to my website to post a question they'd like to ask me, the idea being i'd post series of video responses. Finally (work is hectic at the moment!), here is the first one. I've combined questions from the original post with ones I get daily and compiled a list of the most popular questions. Some subjects have proved so popular they now warrant a film all to themselves (how to become a make-up artist and under-eye bags shadows to name two!) so this is something I'll do.

Sorry if you didn't get your question answered this time...stay tuned for next time x

Gallery Update - Anna Kendrick

Blog - 11th Mar 2011 - Comments 46 - Read →

For UK Glamour Magazines 10th Birthday issue (can't quite believe its been 10 years!) I was asked to make-up super cute American actress Anna Kendrick for their fabulous 'An American in Paris' shoot. We were all excited by the prospect of photographing the 'Twilight' and' Up InThe Air' star in some of the most famous cafes, shops, streets and landmarks only to discover the forecast was for freezing temperatures, wind and rain! As predicted the first day was made difficult by torrential rain and freezing winds but luckily Anna was a complete trouper and an absolute delight.

Thankfully the second day was much drier in the afternoon so we managed to get most of the outdoor shots done. The mainstay of the make-up for all the shots were cute, flirty eyelashes and kitten flick liner. I changed the lips and cheeks depending on the mood of the photo and the outfit Anna was wearing. The lip colour went from nude to baby pink to bright rosy pink to full-on red!

Anna and I sneaked into Annick Goutals boutique in-between shots to try out all the delicious scents (and escape from the cold!). Smart and funny, she made the shoot a great one for all of us.

Gallery Update - Step into Spring!

Blog - 28th Feb 2011 - Comments 90 - Read →

This shoot I worked on for Glamour magazine really got me excited for Spring as I had the chance to showcase some of the best new season’s make-up trends.

As you can see from the images, there are going to be lots of bold beauty colour statements this Spring with bright colours on eyes, lips and nails. I especially love this lilac, smoky eye look – using pretty, candy colours like this in a smoky wash feels really modern. For lips theres a choice of nude, super bright (think shocking raspberries and neon pinks) or 70's style red 'n' glossy - the choice is yours!

There’s also a huge focus this Spring on skin – this understated honey-bronze look is really pretty and, if you’re not a massive fan of bold, coloured make-up, it’s a great, subtle way to get your make-up Spring-ready.

I hope you like the looks – and that they get you geared up for all the Spring beauty trends!

Ps - its all the same girl but doesn't she look different with the different hair and make-up looks?

Quick Pick-Me-Up Make-Up

Video - 25th Feb 2011 - Views - Comments - Watch →

The past week or so has been one long round of parties and dinners to celebrate the The British Film Academy Awards, Elle Style Awards and London Fashion Week. As someone who doesn’t drink much ordinarily and likes an early night this recent merry-go-round has really taken its toll on my skin. After a very lovely and glamorous, but particularly late, night at last weekend, I decided to do this ‘pick me up’ make-up look in an attempt to perk-up my skin – and my mood!

Using some lively, cool tones of silvery grey and lilac (a universally flattering pep up shade) around my eyes I then lifted my tired and dull-looking skin with a great pink blush. A pop of colour on nails, like this amazing yellow from the forthcoming Chanel summer collection also gives you that immediate feel-good factor!

I hope you like the look – as you’ve probably already seen, colour is a huge trend for Spring so inject some colour into your make-up bag now – and hopefully it will perk you up just as much as these pretty pastels did me!

Gallery Update - Helena Christensen at the ELLE Style Awards

Blog - 24th Feb 2011 - Comments 46 - Read →

I’ve been lucky enough to work with stunning Helena Christensen many times and had the pleasure of seeing her again last week when I made her up for the annual ELLE Style Awards. Helena is probably one of the most naturally beautiful women I’ve ever met and looked amazing with this dark, smoky eye. We kept the look a bit edgy and rock n roll by adding some smudgy glitter all over her eye, and then teamed it with her trademark pink cheeks and glossy lips.

Here’s a list of products I used to achieve her sexy look:

Make Up For Ever - HD Foundation (I mixed a few shades to match Helena’s gorgeous olive complexion)

Chanel - Blush Duo Tweed Effect - Tweed Fuchsia

Dior - 5 Couleurs Designer Eyeshadow Palette - Smoky Design

Bobbi Brown - Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner - Black Ink

Max Factor - Xperience Mascara - Black

Suqqu - Eyebrow Liquid Pen - 02

Laura Mercier - Lip Glace - Glistening Sand

Gallery Update - Annette Bening for the Baftas

Blog - 18th Feb 2011 - Comments 46 - Read →

Over the years, I’ve made up lots of actresses for the super glamorous Baftas and its always really exciting. This year I was very happy to be working with the extremely gorgeous and effortlessly chic American actress Annette Bening  who was nominated in the best actress category (along with her co-host and friend Julianne Moore) for the ‘Kids Are Alright’.

Annette, like me, likes to keep her skin looking very natural with a dewy radiance  (pretty easy to achieve with her flawless complexion).  She had a number of dress choices, but settled on this stunning white Marchesa gown after a unanimous vote from all of us who were there. So I decided to team it with a classic red lip as I felt it perfectly complimented the dramatic simplicity of the dress.

Product-wise, It didn’t take much to make her up as Annette truly is a natural beauty with so much class and elegance. I love her wit, intelligence and, as you can see from the pictures, her absolutely amazing figure – ooh what I’d give for those upper arms!

Chanel – Pro Lumiere Foundation – 40 (with a dash of 60 mixed in)

Chanel – Blush Duo Tweed Effect – Tweed Rose

Estee Lauder – Double Wear Concealer

Chanel  - Poudre Universal - Translucent

Suqqu – Eyebrow Pen - 02

Bobbi Brown – Longwear Gel Eyeliner - Chocolate Shimmer

No7 – Stay Perfect Trio Eyeshadow – Cappuccino

Max Factor – Experience Mascara - Black

Make Up For Ever – Individual False Lashes

MAC Pro – Longwear Cream Lipstick – True Red
