Thin or uneven lips can be easily corrected with make-up, painful lip augmentation really isnt necessary... its just getting the technique right. Hard lines around the edge are definitely not the way to go!

My Favourite Lip Pencils For Creating a Natural/Nude Lip

Blog - 13th May 2013 - Comments - Read →

Getting the perfect nude lip is a challenge as it's completely dependent on finding a shade that compliments your skin tone. Creating a great nude lip is about matching the right shade of lipstick (which is neither too colourful and overpowering or too washed out) with the individuals skintone - and the same is true for pencils. Although I often don't bother using a lip pencil when creating a bright or bold lip (unless I'm changing the shape or increasing volume), I like to use one to give subtle definition to a nude lip.  As long as its done well and looks natural it can prevent a light colour from washing you out and give a better finish.

The perfect nude pencil can be used alone, all over the lip, or as a base stain before lipstick for maximum staying power.

Here are some of my kit favourites and the different skin tones I find they work best for:

Very Fair/Light Skin

Bobbi Brown - Lip Liner - Beige. (Light Warm Beige)

Bobbi Brown - Lip Liner - Pale Pink (Cool Pastel Pink)

L'Oreal - Infaillible Lip Liner - Always Toasted 708 (Pale Neutral Beige Pink)

Light  - Medium Skin

No7 - Precision Lips Liner - Nude (Light Browny Pink)

Mac - Lip Pencil - Subculture (Light Warm Peach Nude)

Clinique - Quick Liner For Lips - Baby Buff 10 (Light Pink Nude)

Medium Skin

Mac - Lip Pencil - Boldly Bare (Medium Pink)

Urban Decay - 24/7 - Illegal (Medium Pinky Brown)

Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Tiramisu 050  (Warm Browny Pink)

Medium - Dark Skin

No7 - Precision Lips Liner - Caramel  (Rich Pinky Brown)

Mac - Lip Pencil - Whirl  (Medium Plum Brown)

Dark - Very Dark Skin

Mac - Lip Pencil - Hover (Deep Warm Reddish Brown)

Mac - Lip Pencil - Chestnut (Intense Warm Chocolate tone which mixes well with 'Hover' to lighten)

Fashion Fair - Lips Pencil - Dark Brown (Very Deep Neutral Brown)

You may have noticed that I set up a ‘Your Lisa Eldridge Looks’ board on my Pinterest last week. It’s a place where I can collect all of your fabulous recreations of my looks.  I've been wanting to do this for a long time as I receive so many beautiful images via twitter and instagram. A huge thanks to everyone who has submitted photos so far, there are already over 100 and you all look amazing! I definitely feel like a proud make-up mamma! Above are some examples of the major skill and talent on show from gorgeous women around the world.

I’m just beginning to get properly involved in Pinterest (yes I know I'm late to the party but hey, Ive been busy!) so will be starting to upload all my covers and red carpet work along with the inspirations behind shoots and looks.

If you’re in the UK, Pinterest has just officially launched here so if you haven’t signed up yet click here. Its a fun way of collecting ideas for everything from interiors to make-up looks. clothes and just about everything. I'll be updating and creating new boards regularly, so do stop by and say hello.

If you want to appear on my ‘Your Lisa Eldridge Looks’ board just Tweet, or Instagram your look with the hashtag #mylisalook , or add it to my Facebook page and mention the name of the video you created the look from. Then, I'll add your photos to the board. Even if you did the look and sent me a picture a while ago, please re-send it or add the hastag to the original picture ... I want to include everyone's.

P.S Happy Mothers Day to everyone who is celebrating it today, I hope you all have a great day. Lets raise our glasses to women everywhere X

Spring Pink - Fuchsia-licious Lip with a Glow

This simple fresh-faced make-up look features the lipstick I was wearing in 2 of my #foundationcourse course videos as so many of you loved the shade and asked what it was. Subtly glowing skin combined with a bright, candy pop lip makes this look perfect for now X

A similar, more affordable lipstick to the YSL one I use in the video is the Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter in Lollipop (075) which has a similar texture but is less blue.

I'm totally obsessed this shoot I did with model Stella Tennant for the New York Times T Magazine,

We shot it the day of the Chanel Metiers d'Art Show in Scotland. It was a magical location (which really comes across in the photos I think), with incredibly beautiful clothes. There was definitely an etheral quality to the shoot so I kept the make-up quite pale, angelic and delicate with strong brows.

I've worked with Stella many times over the past seventeen years  and she seriously hasnt changed one jot!  X
