My Favourite Brushes (updated) - From My Kit
Quite a lot of you have requested an updated Favourite Brushes Film (my last one was almost four years ago!).These are some of my favourite makeup brushes that I have in my pro-kit at the moment.
Brightening Ingredients - The Low Down on the Most Effective
Like lots of people, my skin doesn't fit into one category - it's oily/combination, often dehydrated and prone to uneven texture and pigmentation, so I'm regularly on the lookout for products with brightening benefits that I can incorporate into my regime (to both improve tone and keep future discolouration at bay). I often find that products like these are good to use in autumn and winter months when you know you're not going to be exposed to strong sun every day (UVA is a huge catalyst for dullness and pigmentation). That said, no brightening product will be able to work to its full potential without a broad-spectrum sunscreen, so make sure you apply your SPF each morning (even when it's cloudy and grey outside) so your skin can respond as effectively as possible to the brightening products you're using.
Four Great Cleansing balms (without mineral oil)
I made a film about some of my favourite cleansing balms a while ago and had a few requests for recommendations of balms without mineral oil. I won't go into the mineral oil debate again here (I did talk about it a little bit at the end of my video - so if you want to hear my stance on it you can take a look), but if you prefer to use a cleansing balm that's mineral oil free, here are some that I've been trialling recently and have really enjoyed using...
Marie Antoinette Inspired Makeup Tutorial #FacePaintBook
To celebrate my book #Facepaintbook I’m making tutorials based on the looks of some of my favourite makeup muses that appear throughout the book.. First up, the fashion and beauty icon Marie Antoinette. This film shows how to interpret her signature look - perfect for a costume party. I hope you like it. X
Glam vs Gruesome - Halloween Makeup Inspiration
I love getting creative with makeup, and if there's one time of year when you can really push the boundaries, it's Halloween. For me, Halloween makeup can go one of two ways - glam or gruesome!
My Favourite YouTube 'guru' ..... like evvvverrrr
So, I have an unexpected day off today, I'm supposed to be on a shoot near the South coast of England but it got postponed due to bad weather. It was a great job but I have to say, I'm thrilled to have a suprise day off. As it's such a gloomy Wednesday here in London I thought I'd share a little light hearted fun and guity pleasure of mine with you all. I'm often asked who my favourite YouTuber is and, thanks to hairdresser Sam McKnight, who sent me an email a couple of weeks ago with the words 'I know you are going to love this!', I have been glued ever since. Angie Castellano is a brilliantly eccentric and absolutely hilarious New York character created by Maria Cyza. Seriously, this genius woman should have a regular slot as the resident 'beauty guru' on Saturday Night Live! I've been watching her videos on repeat in-between jobs, book signing events and even walking to the studio and they never fail to put a huge smile on my face - I've also got everyone at the#HouseofEldridge and all of my friends and family addicted to her tutorials ; )
Win a ticket to my #facepaintbook event at London College of Fashion
THIS COMPETITION HAS NOW CLOSED
Next Monday (26th October) I'm doing an 'Inside the Industry' talk at London College of Fashion. The event was open to students and staff from the six colleges at the University of the Arts London (which includes London College of Fashion, Central Saint Martins and Chelsea College of Art), but I asked them to keep an extra 20 tickets aside for my gorgeous lisaeldridge.com readers.
