#FlawlessFriday Sophia Loren's Brilliant Beauty Anecdotes
When I was researching the enduringly beautiful and phenomenally talented Sophia Loren for my latest film, 'Sophia Loren Inspired Makeup Look', I dug out her book Women & Beauty from the #HouseofEldridge library. Sophia wrote this in 1984 as a collection of all the beauty, health and fashion tips she'd picked up throughout her career (I heard someone describe it as an auto-beauty-ography which I love!). Even though I've had this book for a while, and have read it cover to cover numerous times, whenever I flick through it never fails to make me smile - Sophia has some absolutely brilliant beauty anecdotes and I thought I'd share some with you for today's #FlawlessFriday. Hopefully they'll make you smile too!

Foundations for Weddings - and All Your Other 'Red Carpet' Moments
I'm always asked about the best foundations for weddings - the ones that last, even out tone, smooth imperfections and don't have any flashback (the ghostly-faced look you can get in photographs). If you already use an incredible foundation then go ahead and stick to what you know (as long as it ticks the boxes above). If you want to try something new, take a look at a few of my favourite long-wearing, beautifying foundations for different skin types and situations below - they're equally great if you're a wedding guest or have a party or special event to attend where you're going to be photographed. They've all been seriously tried and tested (in some cases over years of use) to make sure they reach the Eldridge standard!
#FlawlessFriday High/Low Treats for Tired Skin
For today's #flawlessfriday I wanted to tell you about two new beauty treats I've been using recently on opposite ends of the spend scale.
First up is the high end treat - Swiss brand Valmont's Prime Renewing Pack (available here). I arrived in Paris last month for a huge event and, when I got to my hotel, tried to book in for a last minute facial as I was feeling frazzled and decidedly blah. They couldn't fit me in but the therapist very enthusiastically recommended this mask as a quick fix. It's a very good salon with good therapists I've used in the past so I was all ears, but I'm always skeptical and wasn't 100% convinced. Anyway, tiredness and knowing I had to look fabulous quickly made me desperate, so I bought it... nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Texture Trend: Gloss Grows Up
I'm often asked about makeup trends - the ones I like, the ones I'm trying and the ones I wish would disappear. But I don't really believe that makeup trends exist anymore - its more a case of the same looks and styles coming around again and again. The thing that makes a trend different each time is the technology - i.e. packaging, delivery and formula. A really good example is the cushion phenomenon from Asia, which is all about the delivery system of lightweight textures that give skin a luminous, dewy look - you could say that this is a trend, but it's come very much via technology. Another technology trend that's been bubbling to the surface over the past year is the return of gloss textures.
