New Video: My Favourite Brushes

Thursday 29th Apr 2010 8:00pm - Comments (15) - Back to the blog

My personal favourite brushes has been the most requested video recently. I’ve also been asked to do a video of the ideal bushes and tools that non professionals should have in their make-up bags… that one is coming soon. So here are the top favourite brushes from my kit. I’m mentioning 27 (there were a few more but I ran out of time) and each and everyone is essential for me in my working life as a professional Make-up Artist. For non professionals, there are some great brushes here that will really help you to apply your make-up with a more polished finish. Enjoy and let me know what you think…your comments are always gratefully received.! Lisa x

UPDATE - for anyone outside of the UK and Japan who are looking to purchase the SUQQU brushes. At the moment the best way to buy them is via mail order from Selfidges Department Store in London. The PR Christa told me this .... "The number to ring is +44 20 7318 3538, which goes directly to the SUQQU counter.  The girls will be able to process the order over the phone and ship any products to anywhere the buyer so wishes"

They will also be launching onto the Selfrides on-line shop within the next month or so too. Hopefully word will spread about this great brand and they will be available in more countries soon.

Watch the video here.

Hello Lisa. First of all, you're not the best just in makeup, but also in elegance, and it's not a second issue for me. Then, I would like to purchase one of the suqqu brushes(the face one), but I don't know their price. Can you tell us something about? Thanks a lot.

Hi! I was looking for where to get the Suqqu brushes. I finally found this page with all the brushes. Very nice!!!!!!! I feel like buying them all. I also bought the clinic foundation that you use for your acne covering and it works sooooo good. Thank you so much

Hi Lisa Thank you so much for your amazing videos. I have learnt so many new and funways to do my makeup. My question is: I have quite small eyes and think the Paula Dorf smokie lid brush would have been perfect for me but its seems to have been discontinued. Is this correct? Is there any simelar brushes? Thak you so much. Camilla from Norway

Lisa - My twin sister Mai, won these and as a big suprise I've got them for my birthday! I thanked her of course, but I do not believe I ever thanked you. I mean if you had not given out this drawing, than this would not be quite possible! They are beautiful and thus far I am loving them. Although I do not use them often because I don't wear make-up a lot, but enough! Also, I want to keep the shape of them and the quality as long as possible - so I use them for special occasions. And each time I do use them, my make-up ends up looking lovely! Thank you so much again and keep up with those great movies! Your videos are pretty much what I wait for everytime I sign on to YouTube! Merci Beaucoup!! -Nhu

I love your videos - a great lighting (the best among all makeup videos on YT), beautiful looks, an awesome and beautiful teacher (your tips and tricks are so good), to say the least! You totally convinced me to try new looks and to invest in the Suqqu brushes! lol Thanks for taking the time to make videos, I do think that you deserve much more subscribers! :-)

Hi Lisa. I love your videos, they are so useful. I would really appreciate if you can make a video about eye shadow application techniques, especially where and how to apply and blend...Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us:)

How do you clean your brushes? Btw great video

Nicola - Saturday May 8th 2010 7:41pm

Please could you give a bit more info on the best way to clean brushes? I read somewhere to always point down when running under water so the product doesn't go further into the brush. Should it be cold/hot water? I currently use the clinique brush cleaner but can I just use a shampoo, no specific 'brush cleanser' as all the brands seem to sell them now. Thanks! x x

Fantastic video, thoroughly enjoyed watching it a number of times! I found a few of the Paula Dorf brushes on ebay but they are very difficult to find online, especially the smoke lid brush which I had particularly wanted to get! I was at the Suqqu counter a few days ago and I think it is a really gorgeous brand, the quality is amazing although I may have to save up a while for the brushes! Thank you so much for doing these videos, you are a great teacher. As always I'm looking forward to the next one and learning more!

Hi Lisa, I know you've used the Mac 311 brush for applying cream eyeliner for kitten flicks - is this the one you would recommend for this kind of product/look? As in your vid you said you were using it as you were producing quite a thick line. Would love to know if it serves as the best 'all rounder' brush for this as well as thick lines? Thank you!

Sarah - Friday Apr 30th 2010 12:46pm

This is incredibly useful - although I am a bit of a brush junkie! I am definately going to invest in at least a couple of these now, thanks!

Joanne McDonough - Friday Apr 30th 2010 12:08pm
