Love it or loathe it, one thing's for sure, its impossible to get away from the phenomenon that is the the X Factor at this time of year. Here is a shoot I worked on with British singer/songwriter (and one of this years UK X Factor judges) Tulisa Contostavlos. Fans of the show will know by now that Little Mix (who I loved!), the girlband Tulisa mentored, won the competition - but at the time of this Glamour shoot the process had only just begun.
Tulisa is a naturally very pretty girl with a unique style so I kept her look very simple. Changing only the lip colour for the different shots - a pale, nude pink for the close up beauty shot, bright orange and pinks for the fashion shots and a fresh raspberry for the cover.
Tulisa has amazing eyes which I accentuated with a thick black liquid liner placed graphically along the top lashes and a much softer, more blended smokey powder line along the lower lash line. A full set of lashes and defined 'Elzabeth Taylor inspired' brows kept the focus of the eye-make-up on the top lid and gave the make-up an updated 'old school' glamour feel.
To create all the lip colours used, I mixed and blended shades from my beloved lip palettes.
To see my palettes click here.
What do you think of the look I gave her?

On the first shot, it really is very similar to Elizabeth Taylor. She smiles differently. Maybe if she would be a serious illusion that young Liz will be more. Beautiful look

I wanted to pick the brains of any Lonodn make-up artists please? I am looking to do an introduction make-up artist course. Evenings or weekends. i was thinking of the London School of Make-up & Beauty. I went to visit the college and it just seems a little old fashioned! Does anyone have any advise as to good make-up schools/colleges etc.

Lisa, you're so talented! Every look you design is beautiful, natural, actual and sophiticated at the same time. I dont'know how you do it. You're a true inspiration for all make-up and beauty lovers! You must do a tutorial for this gorgeous look (but maybe a less dramatic more daily version as a previous commenter said). It's the first time I comment but I must say I'm a huge huge fan of your blog since I discovered it last year . Many kisses from Paris!
AnnaArtable - Tuesday Dec 20th 2011 8:37am
I love it! I'm going to try it since I think it would be perfect makeup to wear on the New Year’s Eve: simply and chic :-) Buon Natale e buon anno nuovo dear Lisa!

Absolutely beautiful, Lisa. You are a true inspiration. I’ve been wanting to tell you just how truly inspirational you are for quite some time. I have to say that I’ve never been much into make-up, it all seemed too complicated and I never seemed to like the way make-up looked, but every time I watch one of your videos everything makes sense. I love the simplicity and the femininity of your looks, the celebration of beauty really. Thank you very much for spending time to make these videos, for being so truly amazing. Every bit of advice you give makes my day. Thank you and all the best wishes for this holiday season!

Bianca Petermann - Sunday Dec 18th 2011 10:22pm
Dear Lisa, thank you for telling me where to post my request for a look. My idea for a new YouTube video would be for you to recreate a look with the exact same products - if possible - that one of your viewers normally uses to do their make up. And maybe then you could 'judge' whether the product choices are good and/or whether other product/shade-combinations would work better together. I can tell you about what kind of make up I wear quite regularly: I (think I) have combination skin & I am prone to acne. I have freckles & some light acne scarring :(... Skin: 1) Shisheido White Lucent - Brightening Moisturizing Gel 2) Estee Lauder Idealist Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher (sometimes) 3) Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in B-30 (Beige Sable) 4) Make Up Forever HD blush in #6 5) Make Up Forever HD Mircofinish Powder 6) Mac Bronzing Powder in Bronze to contour or: Benefit Hoola (I don't use a concealer, though I probably should. I have the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage concealer in SC-3 but it's a bit hard for under the eyes, which is why I don't use it. Would like a smoother alternative, but I don't know which shade would work with Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua in B-30 Beige Sable) Eyes: 1) Mac Paint Pot in Soft Ochre as a base or Urban Decay Primer potion in Eden 2) Mac Brule e/s all over lid 3) Mac Rise Paper as highlighter under brow & inner corner 4) Mac Club eyeshadow all over lid (under socket line/ crease) 5) Mac Bronze Bronzing Powder in the crease (to warm up) 6) Urban Decay e/s in the color 'Smog' (from UD book of shadows vol. 1) under lower lashline 7) Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Ébene around the eye on waterline & a bit in between lashes (2 thirds in, avoiding inner corner) with tiny flick on upper lashline or: Estee Lauder Double Wear Eye Pencil in 01 Onyx 8) Max Factor False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara Lips: 1) Burt's Bees lip balm (applying at the same time as moisturizer to let set) 2) Guerlain Rouge G Le Brilliant in B21 (color named Bianca ;)) and for night time or if I need a bit more color: 3) Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in 'La Fascinante' (nr. 38) lightly dabbed (learned that in your "One Lipstick, many different ways to wear it" video. THX) That's it! I hope you don't LOL by my choices & combinations ;)... It would be awesome if you could recreate one of your viewer's looks. I think this has never been done before by any YouTube make up guru. Thanks again! Much love & best wishes from Holland, Bianca P.S. I'm @ffirmation on Twitter

I simply love your work. You truly inspire me. I've learned a lot from you. Would you please say your thougts on Nars blushes and in particular Nars Orgasm. I'm desperately looking for an everyday (pinky/neutral) blush, but I just don't know which one to choose... Do you have a safe choice that you would recommend? Beside Bourjois and Chanel...

Gorgeous makeup! Thanx lisa, we all enjoy your work!!.... Can you do a meet & greet in NYC? Id luv it!!
Jane in NYC - Sunday Dec 18th 2011 2:46am
She looks gorgeous! But may I make a request? If you do the tutorial, do a more real-life version (without the faux lashes) and then the editorial look. Some of us are just too cautious (or old!) for such a dramatic look!
Alex - Sunday Dec 18th 2011 2:20am
