Lisa Loves - Favourite (beauty) decoration on my Christmas tree this year..

Wednesday 15th Dec 2010 2:51pm - Comments (44) - Back to the blog

How gorgeous is this limited edition palette by Chanel? Inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s pre-Fall 2011 show, an ode to Istanbul and the rich Byzantine stonework aesthetic, Peter Philips has designed a make-up range which mimics this beautiful collection. Here is a very sneak peek at it’s star product, Lumieres Byzantines de Chanel, a palette of five gorgeous cream highlighters.

The gold and bronze shimmery tones are absolutely beautiful and can be used as highlighters on eyes, cheek and brow bones, and would also look amazing worn alone on eyes and as a highlight on the centre of the lips . The palette itself is stunning – really opulent and exquisite and automatically conjurs up images of precious antique stonework.

Only 1500 of these palettes have been made, so it’s super limited edition and a bit of a collectors piece - the real question is, if you’re lucky enough to get your hands on one, will you actually want use it and therefore ruin it?!

The Chanel Byzance Make-Up Collection won’t be available to buy until June 2011, but I thought that this was just too gorgeous to keep to myself hence its star appearance on my Christmas tree (and on my blog!). The golden, bronze hues in the palette will be perfect against summer tans so I'm saving it until then (if I'm brave enough to stick my finger in!)
Which Limited Edition palettes and items have bought in the past and not had the heart to actually use?

Hi Lisa, Do you know where they are going to release these palettes in June? I'm dying to get my hands on one!!! Please let me know as i'm dying in anticipation!!!!

The limited edition product that I am loving at the moment and have stacked up on them is the MAC corrector in coral and yellow by Micky Contactor. I am Indian and have very dark eye circles (darker than normal, in my opinion), the problem I have is that all good coverage concealers cake-up under my eyes (I also have very large eyes, which creases/cakes-up more). I have been looking for the past 5 years for a concealer that does not cake up and provides good coverage. I have come to realise that heavy cover concealer will ALWAYS cake-up, however, the MAC corrector provides a decent coverage AND IT DOES NOT CAKE... I have purchased 5 tubes of this, and am thinking of getting more :-)

i feel this way about the Le metier de Beaute Marchesa Holiday palette. oh man it's gorgeous and so luxe, it's my star for this Christmas and luckily for me I have used it because I have no self control :D

Debbie Woo - Tuesday Dec 21st 2010 12:54am

I thought it was an ornament. It is beautiful!!! I don't think I would use it though. WOW,love it!!!

Hi Lisa, Usually I use my makeup items, even if they're Limited Edition, because ... well I can't help myself wanting to see them on my skin. But one thing I'm having trouble making myself use is that adorable Paul & Joe Cat lipstick with the swan packaging - I know you have one too, you posted it on your blog a while back .... have you used yours yet???

Karen - Friday Dec 17th 2010 1:55am

Absolutely stunning! If you decide to use it, I wonder how long it is going to take you to put your brush in it!!! Should I...Shouldn't I.... lol! Big hugs....

Ivy - Thursday Dec 16th 2010 10:58pm

Hazel - Thursday Dec 16th 2010 10:18pm

Paloma - Thursday Dec 16th 2010 3:51pm

Hi Lisa and all, First of all Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I only have a word, "PERFECT". Love your web, very easy to follow and understand.

Lisa Eldridge - Thursday Dec 16th 2010 9:49am

@Uma I saw those palettes, absolutely beautiful and a real collectors item. I agree, if I had one of those I probably wouldn't use it either X

Moira - Thursday Dec 16th 2010 9:35am

Wow this is definitely something for serious make-up collectors. I used to buy more limited palettes but now there are so many I just wait until something really jumps out to me and then I go on a mission to get it lol! Thanks for previewing this very special piece. I love your blog so much. I just adore looking at all the beautiful things on here, so much fun : )

Corinna - Thursday Dec 16th 2010 9:34am

That palette is just gorgeous!! I would so love to get one of those! Unfortunately I´m from Germany and we don´t get all Limited Editions so I guess this one won´t be available here... We also didn´t get the Holiday Collection or the Côte d´azur Collection. I ended up paying a ridiculous price for the new "Riva" polish on ebay.

@Stiina Here in the UK if you really like something LE its possible to put your name down on the counter and although you have to be really quick as they do sell out of all of the special items I havent heard people saying it's completely impossible. Next time I see someone from Chanel I will ask them how it works in Europe...if anything I would have thought its easier to get this type of thing in France than here in the UK. Thanks for your comment its always interesting to hear everyones experiences X @Lucy I'm hoping the fact that you know about it 6 months in advance will help you (if you really want one). I agree this one is particularly limited though, much more so than usual. Have you been able to get hold of Chanel LE items in the past? X

Uma - Thursday Dec 16th 2010 3:07am

I'd love one of those under my Christmas tree! I have found Chantecaille's butterfly palettes too beautiful to touch, I just cant disturb them. lol.

Lucy - Thursday Dec 16th 2010 2:22am

so stunning... so many who'd love to own one... and so few to go around... how disappointing :(

Stiina - Thursday Dec 16th 2010 1:39am

Uhm, Lisa, could you do me a favour? Next time you meet any of these Chanel people who are in charge, tell them how much it is a turnoff to have all these pretty things dangled in our faces without the possibility to actually buy them. It sucks big time, especially here in Europe, where every second Chanel item is never ever released. If they want to be so totally "exclusive", fine, I for one won't buy anything from Chanel anymore. And I know I'm not the only one. Here on the European blogs beauty customers are quite angered by Chanel. Nobody understands the idea of telling people "hey, we have beautiful things, but hahaha, you'll not be able to buy them!". It's no fun and sooner or later it will have consequences, trust me. There have been other big names who thought they can disrespect their customer base and they learned their lesson quickly. Maybe the Chanel people should start reading some blogs and boards.

Janet - Wednesday Dec 15th 2010 11:26pm

I don’t think I have that problem! I will use the most beautiful palettes or sparkles, but I’ll save a little to remember it by. Ha! Janet xOx TheMoultonJ on YT

That is too beautiful to be used, then again that is its' destiny. Me likey!

Eleonore - Wednesday Dec 15th 2010 6:41pm

Gabrielle CHANEL would have loved it, I'm sure, it looks like precious gemstones forming a jewel: so baroque and Byzantine too! Will it be as pricey as a jewel too? You must have a lovely Xmas tree

Marina - Wednesday Dec 15th 2010 5:59pm

I've got a Dior's lip palette and I am not sure if I can use it, especially the stripe with Dior logo on it. Right now I've been loving the design of Hourglass Cosmetics, it's a pleasure to play with it :)

BippyBee - Wednesday Dec 15th 2010 5:12pm

Oh wow.. i want one but would never touch it..

Eugenia - Wednesday Dec 15th 2010 4:28pm

OMG!!!! You are seriously the luckiest female on this planet!!! I would so love to get my hands on it, but I am absolutely petrified of ever using it (which is a shame, really!)....will probably instead encase it under glass and charge admission for others to admire it!! It looks fabulous on your tree, by the way....excellent Christmas theme.!!! Love & cheer!

Lauren Sally - Wednesday Dec 15th 2010 4:19pm

Whoops, don't know what happened there! @Lisa; you deserve the gift, you're an amazing inspiration to me and many others.
