This month’s Glamour magazine features a beauty story I worked on with uber beauty photographer Kenneth Willhardt featuring 5 gorgeous party looks. With so much minimalism in make-up around this season, it was great to let loose and create these stand-out looks, full of Christmas sparkle and shine!
I’m a big fan of glitter make-up and tried to use it in lots of different ways. In the first shot I layered large ' jet bead' style glitter over a dramatic smoky eye and added fine glitter in peacock hues to accent the inner corners. For the second image I started with a classic eye and lip make-up and then added a bright violet glitter to the lips which gave a gorgeous, almost holographic effect. For the shot below, again quite a trditional make-up of liner, lashes and a matte red lip, I added fine silver glitter as highlighter on and around the cheekbones to give the make-up a twist. Its also a great way to bring a real Christmassy feel to the make-up without being over the top.

Remember, Christmas party make-up is all about having fun - it’s your chance to try something new that you wouldn’t at any other time of the year. If you’re feeling adventurous, experiment with little crystals, glitters and rhinestones around the eyes, as I did below. You can find this type of stuff at any good bead shop. It’s a really fun look and all you need is a touch of eyelash glue to make them stick.
Nails are also a great way to add glamour and interest to your party make-up – check out the amazing creations in this story by the fab David Barton! If you want to try something new without spending any money, layer a couple of colours you already have in your kit (he used red over a black base) to create a brand new shade.

For those of you who prefer a more subtle but equally glam look, keep an eye out for my Christmas Party Look tutorial which I’m going to be uploading next week. It’s definitely a less extreme version of party make-up compared with some of the examples shown here but it’s just as gorgeous with shimmering eyes and a wow factor lip!
If there is a particular look that you would like to see a tutorial on then please let me know in the comments below. If I get enough comments I'll film it!

All of the looks are beautiful and the model is really gorgeous. The fourth one is my favourite look as it is glam but wearable at same time. I love your site and it has really ignited my interest in beauty & makeup again and made me realise that there are so many different ways to use makeup to express yourself and to enhance your looks. Thanks for this site, it is very professional yet accessible and always totally fantastic!! Happy Christmas.x

Very pretty! I loved all the looks you created =) But I would love to see a tutorial of the first look and the fourth look. I never thought about using green eyeshadows for my brown eyes but it looks amazing in the first look. And the fourth look I love because of the liner and I still find it hard to achieve so it would be nice to see that tutorial =)

Lisa, it would be particularly helpful if you could show how to achieve the first look! The party season is just around the corner and the components in the first look are so beautifully juxtaposed that they compliment each other for a wow factor look. Each component; the statement glitter envy-green eye and the oh so perfect pout, the perfectly arched brows and the chiseled cheeks can also be adapted into many a party look. Thanks in advance.

I just saved all of those pictures, they're so, so beautiful. You made something so modern, fun and sexy out of Christmas make-up. The silver highlighter is probably my favorite idea. But the holographic mouth is ahh-some too! And the hair in the first one... I die! This is my first time commenting, just wanted to say I <3 your style, you totally made me want to be friends with make-up, haha. xx

Briliant ideas! Gorgeous! Love your vids and looks! well I would suggest the first one for a tutorial video, because of the layering of the colours. It seems so glamorous and deep! Really love the other ones too, especially the fourth one with that "signiture kitten flick" of yours:) So classy and sophisticated! Love your blog, L:isa!!!!! Greets! And have fun:)))

The first image is just SO amazing, I am completely in love, this is the best makeup I've seen this month for sure. I'd definitely wear this for a party :) Recently I got myself some turquoise glitter so I plan to have some fun, too. And, yes, if you get enough votes please share on how to create the eyes from the first photo. You've got my vote x
kelley - Sunday Nov 21st 2010 7:29pm

Please do a tutorial that incorporate both. All my appreciation to you and your work!
Samantha Marsden - Sunday Nov 21st 2010 3:18pm

Carlijn - Sunday Nov 21st 2010 1:46pm
Those pictures just totally convinced me to get the Glamour UK edition (for some reason I always find Dutch magazines so blaaah over the holidays, they don't have that sparkle or glamour UK mags do have) And I adore the look in the first shot, all girls (and some guys) love glitter ;)
Maria - Sunday Nov 21st 2010 12:26pm
I agree, the first one is really spectacular, and looks really intricate I'd love to know how u did it!
Trizzie - Sunday Nov 21st 2010 10:30am

Film it all ! i love everything you do !! so keep the tutorials coming!! why would you even have to ask?!. I love you and your work. xoxo.
Kel - Sunday Nov 21st 2010 4:27am
These are all beautiful! I like the eyeshadow in the second one and the idea of the last one, with the blush around the eyes. I'd like to see a video for either of those. Though I don't know how I would make the blush around the eyes work for everyday. I guess just into the brow bone, not really under the eye. Or maybe it's just the way the picture is, maybe it is just on her cheek. Either way i love that picture. Do you remember the color you used for that blush? And that taupey eyeshadow color in the second pic? Thanks!
Isabella - Sunday Nov 21st 2010 3:24am
Lisa do you remember what the lippie was in the 3rd picture? I've been looking for an orangey/warm based matte red for a long time and this one is so striking (at least it looks warm on my monitor). As for the tutorial, I would love to see the look on the first picture. This is my first time commenting and I just wanted to add it is truly a pleasure watching your videos, you are so intelligent, beautiful, down to earth, charming and eloquent and thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us!
rachael - Sunday Nov 21st 2010 12:35am
Please do a tutorial on the first look! Perfect for party season. I have the magazine but would love to be able to watch you recreating the look on video.
amyC - Saturday Nov 20th 2010 9:53pm
Everything you touch just turns to classy glamour :)
Jennifer - Saturday Nov 20th 2010 8:21pm
Oh my goodness. What is the eyeshadow you used in the second look? I need that shade of mauve-taupe gorgeousness in my life!!!
Hazel - Saturday Nov 20th 2010 7:55pm
These looks are so gorgeous, it's hard to choose a favourite! I love the first one but I adore the crystals around the eye and false lashes in the last pic - so over the top glam I love it! Do you know which pink nail varnish was used? I want it! x
jess - Saturday Nov 20th 2010 7:50pm
2nd pic, for sure.
Norma jean - Saturday Nov 20th 2010 7:32pm
I love the first look, please do a tutorial on that one,its really a great one for christmas!
Oksana - Saturday Nov 20th 2010 6:23pm
First and second looks are my favorite!
Louise - Saturday Nov 20th 2010 6:13pm
I love them all, I couldn't pick one out, the eyes on the first picture are amazing, I love the lips on the second. The red matte lip on the third is that Mac Ruby Woo? I have that but I wore it out lately and it looked great for a while then I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and it had gone terrible, I looked like I had that bleeding effect around my mouth and looked older. If you could explain how to keep a red matte lip looking good and non ageing that would be brilliant ie third look.. thank you.. love your site :)
Eleonore - Saturday Nov 20th 2010 5:35pm

Every picture is a work of art, I love 2 and 3! And the 4th is so fun! x
Lisa Eldridge - Saturday Nov 20th 2010 4:39pm
@fiona yes, I think it was the pale pink one from Revlon x @Irma its just a thinker version of the regular kitten liner - see my video on the technique I use. Extend it out further and make it thicker x
Babs - Saturday Nov 20th 2010 4:37pm
